A literary canon could be one of many things. Marvel comic books have been a long time literary canon in the U.S. These comics include “The Green Lantern”, “Wolverine”, and “Captain America.” These selections, among others, have remained popular to people because of the story. The thought of a dramatic change into something as significant as a super hero is a dream In many American hearts. Americans constantly look for a hero of some sort to save them from their problems, and many comic reading people want to become these heroes. Comic books opened a whole new realm of literature, helping to shape the culture of America today. Everyone can choose their own personal literary canon. If I were to choose my personal canon it would be fiction and adventure novels. James Patterson is the king of this canon in my opinion. Patterson’s books include many nerve racking, edgy novels. Some of my favorite James Patterson books are the Alex Cross series. I like these books because they keep the mystery of what could happen next throughout the entire work. Comic books are a great example of litterary cannons. Comics came out around WW2 and they told story about these super heros that fought crime and always beat evil. I believe that timing might have lead to alot of the success of comic books. It inspired the youth of America at a times when America was at war. Even today there are people who still wish they could be like the people they read about in the comic books. If you don't believe this you need to see all the people at comicon dressed up like their favorite super heros and acting out scenes from the magazines and movies.

Literary Canon The United States has a huge selection of fictional novels that are popular among today’s society. Some are old and some are brand new. One of the literary canons of today’s generation would have to be Harry Potter. These books have sold millions of copies and have been made into multi-billion dollar movies. Its popularity comes from the well written story that follows a young wizard kid through his adulthood as he fights against an evil force. The story has an intriguing plot that keeps readers interested. Harry Potter’s story reflects on the United States views of magic and wizardry. It also tries to relate to the teenage generation going through school. The story of Harry Potter has become very popular and will probably remain so for a long time. One of my pieces in my literary canon is The Hunger Games. The story is well written and the plot holds on to your attention. The story of the young girls fight to survive is very intriguing. Every aspect of the book is detailed and makes you feel as though you are living the story making it one of my favorites. Justin myrick- I agree with connor, the harry potter series has been around for a long time and it is very successful and has produced a lot of income. Between all the books and movies it a multi-billion dollar company. It will prolly be around for a longer time to come. It really catches the younger nerd groups and people who are interested on witch craft.

What I consider to be a current literature canon in the United States is “No Easy Day”. This book is about the first-hand account of the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden. The author, Mark Owen, writes about his account of what took place that night at the compound that held the terrorist leader. The reason it is a current literary canon in the U.S. is because we, as Americans, want to know how the person that plotted and carried out the attack on the Twin Towers died. The book reflects on our culture by telling the world what the men and women, in the armed services, sacrifice and the risk they take to get the job done. The U.S. was built on patriotism and that’s what this book reflects. What I consider to be part of my literary canon are books that tell a story about the troubles or a part of life the author went through. It also includes books that are a history lesson about the U.S. The battles, wars, troubles, and success we have been through. War books are very popular in the US. This is most likely due to the large amount of verterans that we have in our country. I don't mind war stories but I think that I don't enjoy them as much as say a veteran due to the fact that I can't really connect with the sotries. That is why I think most people who read those stories are veterans.

What literature do you consider to be part of the United States' current literary canon, and why? In the United States the book The Great Gatsby is a huge literary canon. Due to the new movie that just came out, the old story that most people read in high school has became a huge reader for all ages! The sales on the book The Great Gatsby has increased to nearly double what they were before the movie was made. How do those selections reflect the cultural tradition of the United States? The Great Gatsby was written in the roaring 20`s, known for partying and living life to the fullest. Since the movie has came out there has been more people living up life. The book can be reflected by the richer group of people in the United States. On account that is who the c characters in the book were. What do you consider to be part of your personal literary canon? I consider anything in relationship with rough life and western life to be part of my literary canon. I am a fan of the Little House on the Prairie books, and other novels of that that genre! I enjoy literature about people growing up in hard times and making ends meet. They always seem to hold my interest better than others.

Literary Canon John Hugo One very good book that is known in the United States is twilight. Most people know of the books Twilight. There are four books and they are all incredible interesting! In all four books; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn all of the characters come to life in such a manner it makes readers never want to put it down! The books are about a couple in a relationship that the women is a normal human being and the man is a vampire and they have to protected his identity and other vampires from the normal word including the shape shifters. The reason for picking these books for the cultural traditions of the United States is because it is about a love war. Kind of like Bonnie and Clyde, which I happen to favor. The story of Bonnie and Clyde is a piece of western history in the United States. I like it because of the history and passion toward each other and their team of outlaws. There are many books and movies about the couple and their lives. The Twilight books are very good books from what I have heard. I have never read them myself but from what I can tell from the reactions that its fans have given them that he books must be good. I no from what I have heard about them that they do keep the readers interested by the way they tell the stories of the characters in the books. I have to say though due to the popularity of the movies is how the books truly came to be none by the mass public. This is how some books in recent history have become just as popular.

The books that the Duck Commander guys are writing are very popular and have become a part of the literary cannon in this country. The Duck Dynasty show, which they star in, has absolutely blown up in popularity also. Phil Robertson is the man that started the Duck Commander Company and he has come out with a biography that tells the whole story behind it. After people watch the show on TV they are drawn to learn more about the business and the family that is involved in it. Part of the reason people are so interested in the Robertson family is because they still have a very tight Christian family and that is not common at all these days. Maybe some people grew up in a family like that and reading Phil’s bio brings back those memories or it might just be interesting to some people that have never met a family as close as the Robertson’s. Personally I read some books, but I read magazines most of the time. I find that magazines are more informative on the things that I am in to and that interest me. When I do read books they are biographies or just true stories about real life. I have to say I am a big fan of Duck Dynasty but unfortunatly I think that most of America watches it because they like to make fun of the people on the show. I think that most people don't believe that people actually live like that. I know the reason I like the show is because in the begining these guys had a passion for hunting and through this passion they created a highly profitable company. But even now that they are rich they still have their redneck ways and that shows in every episode.

There are many different types of literary canons in the United States. A lot of influences come from movies and media that are being released at the time. Right now the Iron Man series and other Marvel Comic related movies are being made. Graphic novels consisting of these characters have really become more popular over the past couple years because of all the movie remakes.
Culturally these graphic novels would appeal more to kids and young adults that are living in or around a large city where they would be exposed to more media displaying the characters involved. This in turn causes a literary canon around given area because there are more people exposed to the literature. When movies are made based on a book, or books are written based on a movie, it causes that genre of literature to become more popular because the population of people only reached by movies will be introduced that form of literature.
The main types of literature that I find myself reading consist of mostly magazines or internet articles involving cars, motorcycles, racing, mechanics, health and fitness, and outdoor activities. I feel that these topics are part of my literary canon because they are the subjects that have something to do with my everyday life and the things that I am interested in.

In the United States today there is a large verity of fictional novels, these are extremely popular among today’s society. Some of today’s literary canons would have to be Twilight, Hunger Games, and Harry Potter. These are all sets of novels that carry very good story lines and have all made movies to fallow up the books. Twilight is such a popular in today generation mainly to girls normally twelve to eighteen, this is due to the fact that it’s a love story and girls around the world relate there selves to the character Bella. Hoping that one day the can find them their own Edward. The Hunger Games on the other hand leaned more to teens and young adults. This series of novels catch attention by being a love story with a major conflict. Showing that love can be created through the hardest times thrown at you, even if it is life or death situations. Harry Potter hit the shelves only appealing to children over time it became a hit to people of all ages. The books created an escape to another dimension or another world full of magic and excitement. The series of novels the Hardy Boys and Box Car children where both great series, with great story lines. Hardy Boys is a series about undercover brothers that solved mysteries. Box Car Children was a series about children that mother and father had passed away and the lived in the woods in an old box car. Its goes about there everyday lives how they live and what they do to survive. Those books are all good examples of literary canons in the U.S. They do all have great story lines and movies to back there popularity. Those books just like any other widely known literary canons they have a large and devoted fan base to help carry on the fiction of the universes they take place in. Most of these book have come out into the spot light in recent years and mainly focus on the teenage generation but can also appeal to the older generation as well.

What do you consider to be part of your personal literary canon? This could mean many types of literature but one is at the fore front of all these and that is tabloids such as the national enquirer , people magazine and other’s These are so popular because they are at every drug store, mini mall, gas station and market. It is impossible to walk threw a checkout line of any of these store’s without being bombarded with, news of the latest bombing attack or what famous celebrity is getting married. They are filled with news gossip, fun games and even things that are suppose to tell your future. They have something for everyone and that makes them appealing to all kinds of people. These reflect a culture of people that are very interested in the world around them. As the world turns Americans want to know what’s going on. Not that most people would do anything about what they read in these tabloids, but still just knowing for peace of mind. But me personally my favorite literature are westerns. About the old west cowboys and Indians and life back then and the struggle of living with no running water out on the plains with nothing around for hundreds of miles.

I really enjoyed all the stories that he told about being all over the world fighting our enemies. Probably my most favorite one was when they killed the pirates that had captured the captain of a cargo ship. It really showed the skill and patieance that the seals have to aquire in order to perform their jobs. The snipers had to stay in position for over forty-eight hours and wait for that spilt second when all three pirates offerd a shot at the same time. Its absolutely amazing to me that the seal team pulled it off.

There are hundreds of books in the market today that could be considered a “literary canon”. The book, Hunger Games, is one the bestselling books to hit the market yet. This book hit the market and continued to sell at an unbelievable rate. Hunger Games quickly became the talk of the nation, as it was posted all over social medias across the nation, as a result Hunger Games quickly soared to the top of the bestsellers. This book raises points of survival and suspense, and how that too much power could ruin the nation. Points such that keep the people on edge and wondering what is going to happen. This book relates to the American culture, and how that the government could ruin the country if it become to corrupt. Such as in society today, the government already controls so many things and tries to cover up accidents. It provides the people with a vision of what the nation could be shaped into as time and corruption sweep the nation before the people even realized what hit the world. I personally enjoy the type of literary of canon as shown in the book Hunger Games. A literary canon that is full of suspense and portrays a vision of what the future could be like. Jayme is a fan of hunger games because he is waiting for some stuff to pop off like hunger games. He would be the first one to represent district. If Jayme was in the hunger games there would actually be no hunger games because he would go ham on every single contestant. To make it fair to all the other contestants he would need nothing more than a pocket knife and a few cases of beer. This cannot be just any brand of beer. Jayme must only consume the ever so smooth Keystone Light. I think that their might be more people out there that are just like Jayme and that is why they like the hunger games making it so popular.

The most common type of literature read in today’s world in the US is science fiction; it is typically about vampires and zombies. I guess you could also call is “Action Horror” or other category that the director feels it is under. The “Twilight” series saga is most common in younger teenagers, but also there really is not a limit to who may be more willing to read it. Also “The Walking Dead” has become very popular since the new hit television show “The Walking Dead” came out, based upon the book that nobody really knew about. It is showing that the cultural tradition is shifting to a more science fiction book. The books that people are reading the most these days have to do with some sort of fantasy or fairytale. With this being said the old classics still exist in today’s world, although they may not have as many readers as the new science fiction books that are being written in today’s time. My personal literary canon is scattered a little bit, I like reading about zombies and such, but I also like to read the old classics about cowboys, my two favorite books happen to be almost the same, “Ole Yeller” and “Where The Red Fern Grows” are my favorite books, but “The Walking Dead” is becoming more and more of my constant reading topics

Some of these magazines can be good for people that want to whats going on in the country. The magazines that tell the truth about events and the people involved are the ones im talking about. Others are just a bunch of propaganda and lies that the editors make up to try and sell their writing. The editors know that there is a whole lot of people out there that want to know the drama that is in celebraties lives. So by making up lies or by bending the truth a little, they sell more magazines.

Starting in late year 2005 the book Twilight came know to readers across the nation. This book consisted of epic battles between vampires and wolves. There are two sides Jacob and Edward. Jacob is this small town guy who just so happen to be a ware wolf. Edward is the new kid in town with his family and them just so happen to be vampires. Young females love the movies and few know males like it also. This started a whole new vibe of ware wolves vs. vampires. Later movies and more books came into the picture. This got the young generations attention quickly. This gets young men attention because the little action and the dominance it shows to see who better, vampires or ware wolf is. Young female like the movie because it’s also a fight for love, the two Edward and Jacob finds out they like the same girl so there is a little romance that catches there attention. This is kind of a normal reflection to the culture two opposites fighting. Personally I like action/comics. When I grew up I was in love with Batman. Batman is the only true superhero. As you look at all the original superheroes they will have some kind of powers. When you look at Batman he does not have any super powers. He has different fighting techniques. Then there is the Joker he gives you a laugh with being a villain. Also he haves a very nice ride to top all the rest.
